Today has been one of, if not the, saddest days of my life.
Today, Trish, my wife of thirty eight years died.
She was my wife, my lover, my friend, my conscience, my guide in life.
Even though she was disabled with multiple sclerosis for most our time together, and for the last twenty two years, suffered end stage renal failure. She never complained, but always had a smile for everyone, even in her last few hours.
Trish taught me the pleasure you feel in bringing happiness to others. Just a smile, a word of encouragement, or a small gift, often given anonymously, and you have brought a little ray of sunshine into someone's life. I know she would hope these small acts would encourage others to do the same, and hopefully make this world a better place to live.
I will continue to follow her example, and every smile and exclamation of happiness will remind me of Trish.
